John Schwartz

John Schwartz is a national correspondent for the New York Times. His beat focuses on infrastructure – rails, bridges, levees, ports, sewers and all of the other really important stuff that most people take for granted or prefer to ignore...

Prior to working at The Times, he worked for The Washington Post and Newsweek.

John is author of “Oddly Normal,” a memoir about raising a gay son. He was born in Galveston, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at Austin and U.T. Law. He married his college sweetheart, Jeanne Mixon; they have three children. He takes his work seriously, but not himself.
