Yann Martel on "Life of Pi"

In Yann Martel's novel "Life of Pi," an Indian boy is stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger.  Pi survives by his wits and by his religious faith.  Martel explains why writing the novel forced him to confront his own prejudices about religious faith and doubt.  He says a good religion is like a good story.
