Remembering Auschwitz

This week marks is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The gathering planned for January 27th is likely to be the last time a large number of survivors will be present for a commemoration. As we pause to remember, here's Anna Rabinowitz's story of the making of her book-length poem, "Darkling.

Poet Anna Rabinowitz found a shoe box full of old letters and photos of family and friends killed in the Holocaust.  She wrote the poem "Darkling" to feature their voices.   We also hear excerpts from the opera "Darkling."
