Racial Paranoia

April 10, 2015

When you think about the accomplishments of the Civil Rights Movement and the last 50 years, it's tempting to think we've become a post-racial society. But University of Pennsylvania professor John Jackson Jr. believes we're seeing a new type of racial divide, characterized by distrust and paranoia.

People need to "look at themselves first," as Dr. Jackson suggests? Anti-PC people sure don't do that when they accuse PC. They exempt themselves from that task. "I don't have to put up with these differing views; they just political correctness." Self-examination is for other people to do, not themselves, after all.

This brief discussion was amazing. The best of an amazing episode. The conversation between the producer and Mr. Jackson captures the reality of race relations amazingly.
