September 6, 2009

Michael Reilly recorded an extraordinary CD called "Como Now: The Voices of Panola County, Mississippi." He recorded the music live at Mount Mariah Church in Como, Mississippi on July 22, 2006. Reilly tells Steve Paulson how the recording came about, and how it changed him.

Michael Reilly recorded the singing of black residents of Panola County. The CD is for sale, but did he compensate any of the peopel on the record. If no, then I will not spend one dime on the CD.

In 1964, "Freedom Summer," I was the SNCC/COFO civil-rights worker living and working in Como, and I have been back as part of this remarkable community since, not least in its music. I would like to be in touch with Michael Reilly and learn more about his own connections there. Can you put me in touch with him?
