Martin Amis on His Father, Kingsley Amis

September 23, 2001

Acclaimed novelist Martin Amis talks about growing up as the son of another famous novelist — Kingsley Amis.  He says his father found his prose “too much like hard work,” but was the perfect confidant when his marriage ended.  He describes the effects of Kingsley’s last illness and how his own fatherhood has changed his feelings about his parents. Martin Amis is the author of several novels and “Experience: A Memoir.”
