Making Peace With My Father, With Help From Dante

May 21, 2017

Growing up, writer Rod Dreher dreamed of escaping rural Louisiana. Once he was old enough, he left, moved to the east coast and landed a career as a film and culture critic, writing for places like the New York Post and National Review.
And for much of his adult life, Rod found strength from his Catholic faith, until a series of church scandals sent him reeling.

He spoke to Steve Paulson about the psychic shock of losing his religion, and the series of events that would send him searching for forgiveness back home in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

I posted the following on Twitter as an image today and sent it to the Pope with added hashtags. I did it as a pure Tweet to the account the day before and it seems to have vanished from existence. So I'm trying to get it out beyond that account. It regards child abuse.

To all Catholic Priests and Clergy
If there is any question, any doubt as to what the Lord Christ said about child abuse and forgiveness, here’s a reminder:
Mark 9:36
And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
Mark 9:37
Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
Mark 9:42
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.”
Not much room for doubt or wiggling there, I would say. He who forgives murder describes what abusers should do rather than face his anger. Imagine what he’ll do to those who protect and enable those abusers. Add dogmatic hypocrites and abusers together and you get a picture of his attitude. Judgement belongs to him and he is clear about that judgement. Offenders and protectors should not only be stripped of the priesthood but excommunicated from Christianity as they are antichrists by definition.
I hope that clears things up for you. It comes straight from the source’s mouth.
Remember that the Temple was destroyed but the Jews continue. God knows Christianity can survive without the Church and so can he. He’s a builder.

God repented the flood. It’s past time the Church also led by repenting. It’s been a very long time since its last confession. That’s its test of faith. Whose Church is it? Is the Church above god?
Show us a rainbow.

(thought of this a few minutes later.)

For added clarity... the Rod we are not to spare is the Iron Rod that represent the Word of God. This is the Word on children.
